Keller Williams Realty Emerald Coast (KWREC) recently held a Hurricane Relief luncheon at their Destin office to raise funds for victims of the recent major hurricanes, Harvey and Irma.

Over 25 area restaurants and businesses donated food and raffle items for the event. Part of the monies raised was by KW Destin agent Dawn Burt, who challenged the group to match her $5,000 donation. Overall, the luncheon enabled $21,000 and a large number of gift cards to be raised through a silent auction, raffles, and admission cost. Leftover food went to the Pavilion Nursing Home in Niceville and the Destin Fire Department.

The locally raised money and gift cards went to the national level Keller Williams charitable arm, KW Cares. Keller Williams is the world’s largest real estate company with 149,000 agents and they have been able to make a major impact to help the recent hurricane victims. For example, 3,500 KW agents, both from the USA and internationally, went to the Texas area after Harvey and assisted over 165 home owners to help restore their lives, the total of homeowners helped is now up to 330. Also for Harvey, they sent three 18-wheeler trucks packed with generators, non-perishable food, diapers and cleaning supplies to Houston with volunteers on board to unload the trucks and lend assistance. And the KW work continues in the Florida region, too, in the wake of hurricane Irma.
